Is it my imagination or is there less and less interest in the pre 71 4 stroke sleds? I have a 69 Panther MOD with a 395 JLO FA in it and every thing else from a 1966 red and white 140 and a 1966BP up to a 71 305 Lynx and it seems like I am the only one who really likes the 4 stroke Kohler stuff. Everyone else seems to be into EXTs, Pumas and King Kats. Maybe its my generation that has the interest in the 4 strokes and the next generation has a need for speed. Any comments on this subject would be welcome. Prove me wrong and anyone who has an interest in the 4 strokers make a few comments.

I'd like to find an old 4 stroker to restore some day. I started out riding on a '67 8hp Panther. My dad had a '69 12 hp Panther that he bored out and put a 14hp piston and carb in. Did you ever look at all of the garden tractor pulling parts available for Kohler engines? They're getting about 75 hp out of these engines on alcohol. I'd like to do a mild mod version of a Kohler powered Panther just to do something different. I had a 14 hp Kohler block in a Cub Cadet we pulled for a few years that was putting out about 30 hp. I'm just like Tim the Toolman, I need more POWER!

If and when you get ready to buy I have a 68 PK12 and a 69 PK12 that I would sell. They are duplicates and I do not need 2 of each model year. I just enjoy riding them as they came from the factory. Yeah they are slow but maybe that is what snowmobiling needs to do is slow down and enjoy the scenery.

I hear ya there! My trail sled is a 440 fan cooled (1999 Z440). It'll run as fast as I'm ever going to go trail riding. I get tired of ducking the Blair Morgan wannabes coming at me full bore! I see you live in New Hampshire. I have relatives in Vermont, and my brother used to live in NH. I've got a LOT of projects ahead of ever doing an old four cycle, but some day....
When my dad sold sleds, the four cycle Panthers were his biggest sellers. Farmers used to just love them for a work sled.

BrianS0122, I would be interested in the 4 strokers but we are 1/2 a world away. I live in Moorhead, MN, 17XX miles away. I just bought some sleds from a guy that has a 1966BP, just curious how many are left out there? He claimed to know of "5" others still around.

I know of 7 and if the one you know about is not the same as these then that makes 8 out of 21. I have 6 serial #s and can get the 7th. Can you get the serial # and email it to me. Mine is a 8 hp Kohler. I know of 1 more 8 hp. 2 0r 3 are P-12s and the others are 2 strokers. It does not matter where you live All my Cats have come from out that way. My BP6 came from Iowa and my 69 PK12 came from Minn almost into the Dakotas and my 68 Cougar with a * hp Kohler came from WI. I use Don Schmidt to do my sled moving. Both ofthe PKs that I am selling came from NY.

I did have four...the 71 Lynx-8, 2 68's and a 69. I think the 69 is all I have left. I am in line for an 8 Lynx that a buddy still drives on Canadian trips. I had a 67 8, too....sold it.
There was a 66BP showing up at the Naubinway, MI shows in February.

I will talk to the guy and try get the 66BP#, He was an AVID cat guy so you probably already have it. I am still dealing with him on a few sleds. I have met Don Schmidt on one of his trips through here last year. Nice guy and seems to do safe/quality transport for very reasonable $$$. As for 4 strokers, I have a 64 250, 68 C-8, and a 72 panther 8hp.

If anyone has 66bp serial #s i would like to know about them. My 66BP has the white on black triangle hood side decals like are on the 140 etc and I have grab handles like on a 140. Not the chrome front bumper like on a 67 Panther.

I am heading to look at the 64 141D listed on NH site Fri or sat. Its located close to me in ND. I assume it must be a 66??? Any idea how many of these came with the 4 stroke Kohler instead of the 300cc Hirth?

I am not sure on that one. I have a 140 with the Kohler. That one should have a rubber track. If anyone does have a break down it should be posted here on the ACCA.
