List the machine you are working on now that the weather is warm.
My project is still the garage and a pole barn is to arrive mid- June.
Moving "junk", sorting and organizing will be my project along with a garden. Two classes and a short summer job top it off.
With time, the Honda Z-50, parts to complete a Honda 90 and some E-Bay listings of parting out.

...Finishing up my 1978 IH Scout Terra pickup restoration. Once I get that done I 'll probably either start my 1970 634 Puma Mod clone and/or start restoring my 1972 340 Puma. I keep talking up the idea of starting up some sort of vintage racing series in this area. That's what I'd really like to do. Either grass drags or maybe an oval series. I'd rather run 'em than look at 'em!

I sure wish Scouts didn't have the inherent rust problems. In 1980 I worked in Colorado at a ranch. They had 10 scouts. They took off the roof and put in bench seats in the back. You could haul 11 people that way for tours. The 4 cylinder ones ran all day on tank. We did exploratory trips once a week and I have driven over the snow over the Continental Divide. Been through Rollins Pass with 12 foot banks on the side, croswsed streams and up mountains. I never made a guest walk...not to brag, but I always made it up first pass. One trick in rolling stone was to rock the steering back and forth for traction, and I always took the hills in second with plenty of rpms The owner's wife had one, a 1978 I think, with power everything and a V-8.

This is my third Scout restoration. The body on this one was too far gone to do a real cherry resto job on, but it won't look bad. I still haven't decided to keep it or sell it once I get done. It's kind of cool to have an old truck like that around, but in a way they're kind of useless, too. Maybe I'll sell it and use the money to buy some old Cat stuff!

By the end of the month I should have the 3 sleds in my shop done. A 72 Cheetah 340, 74 Cheetah 440 and a 70 Wankel Panther. These are not "queens," but clean and mechanically sound.
My next to do is a 70 Panther 634 w/pipes. This one I will put some special attention to.
Before the summer is over I want to try a project I have been toying with for awhile. Installing an OMC Wankel in a 71 Puma with a BM hood. I think it would be a cool project. What do you think?

My summer prodjects include a 74 295 El Tigre' and a 70 Puma 493 MOD. With the MOD, I am done with destruction and just starting with reconsrtuction. When it starts looking like a sled again, and the chrome starts comming back, I'll post some pics.

I am working on a 73 Panther basket case. Previous owner took it apart but then decided he did not want it anymore. Fortunately, most parts are there plus NOS stuff he purchased.
I just finished rebuilding the engine and carbs. Waiting for some gaskets and it should be ready to fire up--hopefully.
Next is polishing the belly pan and tunnel but first I have to get the drive out. Bearing collar is rusted on for good and worse the bearing is shot on the gear end of the shaft.

Last week I went to the scrapyard and was able to rescue two bikes. One is a MT-50 Trailhopper, and a 1978 YZ80 Yamaha mono-shock. I got them for free.... I have rescued a 72 EXT and a 75 Z from the same yard. I started breaking down the YZ for a rebuild. It does need new fenders, tank, seat, kickstarter, shifter, clutch cable....90% there though. My latest son/dad project for my 16 year-old. Anyone with parts or leads? It just became project #1

I bought a 76 El Tigre from Green Bay on ebay last Feb. Went to Hudson, Wi last week to pick it up. While waiting for the guy to deliver it I ran into a fellow that had a covered trailer full of sleds and parts on his way to Hay Days. In the middle of the trailer was a very clean 71 Panther 303! Salivating, I made him an offer and was able to bring it home, also. It has some defects, but seems to be very low mileage. It runs great. This one should be quick to have ready for winter, so its going to the head of the pack. www.blackcats1.homestead.com/71panther.html

I have 2 1974 340 Panthers and 1 1974 440 Panther. The 340's are in awesome condition but need some shining on the tunnel and belly. What happened to Cat-Shack and his polish? Anyone have a polish to restore the aluminum to showroom condition? PLEASE let me know, herm@netnet.net

Jeff Haugen(sledrescue) from Cannon Falls, Mn sell a product. Can't remember the name of it. I use Bio-Kleen Products. They are bio-degradeable and easy on the lungs. I like the aluminum cleaner as it leave it frosty looking like when new. After I clean the aluminum up I use a 3M scouring pad to get it uniform looking.
