Hi, You have a 1973, or '74, Panther VIP. Arctic built 4,000 for '73, and 3,977 more for '74, although it was held back in '73 and first released as a '74 model. The first digit of the serial number will tell you the model year, "4xxxxx" would be a 1974 model. The automatic transmission was built by Salsbury and was only offered by Arctic in this one model. The VIP was the upscale version of the Panther. It was a dark brown color, instead of the traditional black, and had all the accessories as standard. The engine had a CDI and oil injection. This was the first time oil injection was offered on an Arctic Cat. The sled is not all that rare, but it is unique and therefore collectable.
