Hi, I think we have an answer to the strange hex clutch question. J.F. sent me this note: "Paul, Saw your question on my site. That clutch looks like one I have seen used for small bore tractor pulling here in the mid-Michigan area. There was a guy from Cheasaning that had a Kohler K650-2SS mounted in, I believe, a Wheel Horse chassis. He had a hand operated lever that applied pressure to the clutch as needed against the thrust face of the bearing. It was gutted, no spider or ramps. He did quite well with it in the open class, I hear. Claimed it was his own design, but now that I see you have one in Wisconsin I'm beginning to wonder about his claim.
