Hi, There were actually four different BM hoods. The 1971 hoods had the scoop set back a little bit further than on the '70 hoods. The bottom edge of the hood is also different, as the '70 hood was angled to match the angle of the 1970 and earlier belly pans. The '71 hoods were "straight", to match the straight sided belly pans used on the 1971 and newer sleds. The other thing is, the 760 sleds had a hood that was taller than the others. The extra height was added to the bottom "belt line" area. So, there was a regular 1970 hood, a taller 760 '70 hood, a regular 1971 hood, and the taller 760 '71 hood. If you put a '71 hood on a '70, the headlight will point upward and not be very effective, and a '70 hood on a '71 will point the headlight down. Also, the back edge of the hood is slightly different and doesn't match up very well if you put the wrong hood on the wrong belly pan.
Later .......
