I was wondering if anyone out there might have any info on a sled I have. It is a '73 El Tigre' 400. My question is about the fact it has what I have determined to be a 'Hooker Header' exaust on it. I would assume it has been changed? But there is no exaust hole in the belly pan at the rear by the chain case like other El tigre's? Or any evidence that there ever was one? The Hooker system looks factory and exits up front like the Panthers? What's the deal? Is this standard for this year and model? I have several other '73 and '74 El Tigre's and have never seen this before. I would not have known it was a hooker system if I had not seen a pipe just like it for an early Ski-Doo for sale once. .

Hi, No, the Hooker pipe is not stock. They were sold aftermarket, but they were fairly popular on the Kawi-Cats. Most often seen on the fan-cooled sleds. The pan could also be an aftermarket replacement. A number of suppliers offered pans for the 1972 EXT/1973-74 El Tigre. The Tigger pans were always getting beat up around the footrest area. Maybe a new pan was put on at the same time as the new exhaust?
